Resisting
Violence:
Rural Women and Girls Take Action

|

Welcome to the Resisting
Violence project page!
Here you will learn about the project and ways that you
can get involved. |
|
Introduction |
| |
Resisting Violence: Rural Women and Girls Take Action is
a project that will involve young women in rural, northern
Nova Scotia taking leadership to raise awareness about, and
engage their communities in taking steps to end, violence
against women and girls.
Youth involved in the project will work together to create
community action plans to identify and address the multiple
forms of violence experienced by young women and girls, such
as physical abuse, dating violence, sexual assault and
harassment, peer exclusion and bullying, racism, homophobia,
transphobia, self-harm, and cyber-violence.
Participants will be encouraged to use their gifts and
creative talents to inspire their friends, families and
communities to imagine and work toward a world where women
and girls are free of violence! |
| |
Resisting
Violence is a 27-month project funded by Status of Women
Canada that was launched on January 31, 2011. |
| How can I
get involved? |
| |
If
you are a young woman or teenage girl and you want to build
your leadership skills and create positive changes in your
community, this project is for you! There are many ways to
be involved – you can join the project’s advisory group,
participate as a youth facilitator, or take part in a focus
group in one of our six participating communities. If any of
this sounds up your alley, contact Betsy MacDonald, the
project’s coordinator, at 863-6221 or
